I am so enamored with the Ecopell™ Leather that I use in making First Footsteps shoemaking kits. It is the softest, most luscious leather I have ever touched. Plus, it’s tanned with all vegetable-tanned, non-toxic material – that’s a win for the child that wears it, and a win for our planet!
The shoes are made with little stars punched on the vamp (the front part of the shoe) or plain. I just experimented to see if I could stitch on Ecopell with a regular home sewing machine – and it was no problem, as shown here. So, you can customize the little shoes you make before they are assembled, with appliqué or stitching. Have fun!
