There are many shoemaking techniques used to make Medieval footwear that can be used to make contemporary footwear, such as how to tie the top of a low boot. The styles can offer useful information too, here’s a nice boot – unfortunate that zippers weren’t available! I am surprised that sturdier materials weren’t found for making the sole less prone to wear. And, the sole enlarged and upper reduced along the bottom edge so stitching would be higher and therefore less vulnerable to wear.
An interesting feature of this book is that the author made guesses as to foot problems the wearer had because of how the shoes were made or cut up..
