Why is a turned-up-toe shoe so appealing?!

I should know better than to sort through my file box of patterns. I saw this one, thought it would make great felt slippers- and I need a pair- so just an hour or two and then I would get back to “what I am supposed to be doing!”
Well, I’ve been working on the pattern for a couple of days now-maybe the point is a little high, I think, so more adjustments.. I think this style would look great made with handmade felt..and the upper is stitched to the sole in a unique way..aah, the joys of being a shoemaker!
Of course this style of shoe reminds me of the Poulaines of the Middle Ages. Some had toes so elongated that they had to be held up by a chain to the knee! Supposedly the toe-length was suggestive of virility…
