Sharon Raymond Hm, I have a pair of paper Japanese slippers that were handed out to visitors to the Morikami House in DelRay Beach FL (don’t miss it if you’re anywhere in the area)..I am planning a tutorial on how to make them, but maybe I could incorporate this weaving technique for attaching the upper to the sole.. instead of punching stitching holes and using strong cord to stitch the upper to the sole, slits could be cut in both pieces and a leather strip woven through..
